How This Guide Checks and Measures
This page explains who signs the guide, where its facts come from and how its distances are measured. It also says how posted opening hours are checked and why a few numbers are left out on purpose. Worth knowing before you trust a figure and head out into the cold.
Who Signs This Guide
This guide comes from its own editorial team, the Compass desk, and pages carry the team's name, not a person's. Nobody at the desk works for a casino, gaming centre, racetrack or Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries. The desk takes no bets. Its own page, linked from every byline, says more, including where the images come from and how to write to the desk.
The guide was built because nearby in Winnipeg depends on where you start. So it begins with your part of the city and measures outward from there, area by area.
Where the Facts Come From
Addresses, phone numbers and table times come from the venues' own pages, Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries and the LGCA. Every fact is kept alongside where it came from and the date of its check, all in October 2026. That way a figure can be traced, not just trusted.
When pages disagree, the value is left out rather than guessed. That is why the South Beach slot count does not appear. Opening hours are the hours each venue posts on its own site, checked on October 10, 2026. Holiday hours may not match, so look at the venue's own site before you bundle up.
Two rooms on the list are not full casinos. Club West Gaming Lounge at Assiniboia Downs and Shark Club Gaming Centre in Cityplace are listed as gaming rooms. Each one has its own page.
How the Compass and Table Work
Each venue has a coordinate, and each of the ten areas has an approximate centre point, not a street address. Your browser computes the great-circle straight line between them and rounds it to whole kilometres. These are not road distances, and they say nothing about drive time.
The compass and the area table cover the three casinos, while each gaming room page has its own straight-line bars. On the compass, the scale is stretched so near and far rooms both fit. The bearing, though, is true. Read the direction literally and the length loosely.
