The Compass Desk, Behind This Guide
Who keeps this Winnipeg casino guide, and how much weight can you put on it? Below, the Compass desk sets out how facts get checked and where the pictures come from. It also points to the one paid link and the address for corrections.
Who keeps this guide
Behind the guide sits its own editorial team, the Compass desk. Credit goes to the desk as a group, so you will find no personal byline and no names. The desk works for no casino, gaming centre, racetrack or Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries. Nor does it take bets of any kind.
Its name comes from the compass on the home page. That tool measures from your part of the city, not from a casino door. Ten area centre points do the work, from Downtown and The Forks out to Selkirk to the north. On a cold night, knowing how far a room sits from home is worth something.
How the facts are checked
The venues' own pages, Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries and the LGCA supply the addresses, phone numbers, opening hours and table times. Every fact travels with a note of where it came from and when it was checked, in October 2026. The posted opening hours, taken from each venue's own site, were checked on October 10, 2026.
A figure the sources can't agree on stays off the site, rather than being guessed at. The South Beach slot count is one such gap. Holiday hours can differ, and the guide never says whether a room is open right now.
Distances are straight lines from an area centre point to a venue, rounded to whole kilometres. Each of the ten points is an approximate centre, not a street address. These are not road distances. There are no drive times on the guide, and a snowbank never shows up in a straight line.
Where the pictures come from
Every picture on the guide but one is a generated image, made with an image generator in a stylised 3D night style. McPhillips Station Casino, South Beach Casino & Resort and the Club Regent bar were made after real photos, from the same side. The rest, people included, are invented: a riverside trail, a parking lot, a street of old brick buildings. The one real photo shows the mural on the Club Regent Casino parkade. Its credit line sits under it: Loweeda, CC BY-SA 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons.
The one paid link
Money first, since you will wonder. No casino, gaming centre or Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries pays for this guide, so it stays independent. Exactly one link makes money for the site: the online button on the home page, marked Ad. It brings in a commission. Nothing else on this page, or on any other, is paid.
